Special Exhibition Room
The Diplomatic Archives Exhibition displays historical materials that are especially important in terms of Japan’s diplomatic history.
In the Permanent Exhibition Room, representative treaties and other diplomatic documents from the end of the Edo period to the 21st century are displayed. In the Special Exhibition Room, materials related to former Prime Minister YOSHIDA Shigeru, the history of passports, and the process of concluding treaties are displayed. In addition, Special Exhibitions with particular themes are held on a regular basis(Note).
The Exhibition Room has explanatory panels and videos to help visitors understand the exhibits. We look forward to your visit.

- From October 31, 2025 to January 15, 2026, the Diplomatic Archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will host the special exhibition "Japan’s orientation as a peace-loving nation" in the Exhibition Room. For more details, please click here (Japanese text only)

Days Closed
Sundays, national holidays, Year-end and New Year Holidays (December 28 to January 4), and days on which the Diplomatic Archives announces that it will be temporarily closed (please check our website before your visit).
