The Diplomatic Archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs collects, classifies, and preserves Japan’s diplomatic records and makes them available to the public for perusal.
It also exhibits valuable treaties and other historical documents from the end of the Tokugawa period to the present day. Everyone is welcome to the Diplomatic Archives to have a look.
The Exhibition Room is located on the 5th floor of Azabudai Hills Mori JP Tower (adjacent to the Diplomatic Archives). We look forward to your visit.
The Reading Room is open from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm and does not require prior booking. Please visit our Japanese website for details.

June 3
- From June 17 to August 1, 2026, the Diplomatic Archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Australia in Japan will jointly host the “Exhibition celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Signing of the Basic Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation; and the 50th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Australia-Japan Foundation” in the exhibition room of the Diplomatic Archives. Due to the replacement of exhibits, Diplomatic Archives Exhibition Rooms will be temporarily closed as follows:
- June 15 (Mon): Only the special exhibition room will be closed all day.
- June 16 (Tue): Both the permanent exhibition room and the special exhibition room will be closed all day.
