ATTENTION

Starting from 0:00 am (JST) on October 11, 2022, foreign nationals who apply for new entry into Japan are no longer required to complete prescribed applications in the Entrants, Returnees Follow-up System (ERFS) through the receiving organizations.

In addition, the measures which limits the new entry of foreign tourists to a package tour will be lifted.

Furthermore, visa exemption arrangement will be resumed.

Also, the validity of single entry visa and multiple entry visa which had been issued by Embassies, Consulate-Generals and Consulates of Japan in all countries/regions by December 2, 2021, that have been temporary suspended, will take effect again from 0:00 am (JST) on October 11, 2022.

1. Visa Application Procedures

Short-Term Stay

(A stay of up to 90 days for tourism, business, visiting friends or relatives, etc. that does not include remunerative activities)

Starting from 0:00 am (JST) on October 11, 2022 , prescribed applications in the Entrants, Returnees Follow-up System (ERFS) completed by the receiving organizations located in Japan will be no longer required for new entry of foreign nationals into Japan.

At the same time, foreign nationals enter into Japan for a short-term stay for tourism will be no longer limited under package tours.

In case of the entry into Japan up to October 10, 2022, foreign nationals who apply for new entry into Japan for the purpose of business need to obtain the certificate for completion of registration to the Entrants, Returnees Follow-up System (ERFS) which receiving organization located in Japan applied for online in addition to the ordinary required documents.

As for the purpose of visiting a relative / an acquaintance, a letter of invitation (&Written Pledge) filled by an inviter resides in Japan is required.

As for the purpose of the tourism, the required documents differ from the ordinary required documents.

Also getting international travel medical insurance for your trip to Japan is highly recommended. Overseas travel medical insurance helps you feel secure even in the case of an emergency.
