Relaxation of Visa requirements for Nationals of Brunei Darussalam（Extension of period of stay）
From December 10, 2024, Japan will introduce a visa waiver measure for Brunei nationals in possession of valid Brunei passports for a period of stay not exceeding 30 days for a short-term stay. This new measure will be taken based on the note verbale exchanged between Japan and Brunei Darussalam this March. As a reciprocal measure, the period of stay without visa will be extended from 14 days to 30 days with this new measure.
Brunei Darussalam will also introduce a new visa waiver measure for Japanese nationals in possession of valid Japanese passports for a period of stay not exceeding 30 days for a short-term stay from December 10, 2024.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Brunei Darussalam. It is expected that this new measure will contribute to further development of people-to-people and cultural exchanges as well as further vitalization of business and tourism between the two countries.
