(i) An Inter-Regional Technical Support Component (IRTSC) was established under the Africa Adaptation Programme (AAP) and assists the following 20 participating countries as above(Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Gabon, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Tanzania, and Tunisia) in development and implementation of national activities. (ii) The primary clients of the IRTSC, which is based in Dakar, Senegal, are national project teams. Support is provided to finalize national project documents and facilitate the inception stage of national projects. (iii) An Annual work plan for 2010 has been submitted to the Project Board for approval. All 20 countries have developed national project documents and 10 countries have already started the initiation stage of implementation. The remaining countries are expected to start implementation in January 2010(see more details). (iv) A Guide to Project Initiation has been finalized. Two regional initiation workshops for Francophone and Anglophone countries were held in Jan. 2010 whereas 18 national initiation workshops with project teams are planned for February 2010.
