National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security
1. Establishment of the National Action Plan
Japan has completed its National Action Plan to implement United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 (the first United Nations Security Council Resolution specifically connected to issues of women and peace & security). On 29 September, at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe announced the completion of Japan's National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security.
2. Drafting Process
After Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida expressed Japan's intention to formulate a National Action Plan at the G8 Foreign Ministers' Meeting in April 2013, in consultation with related Ministries and Agencies, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs initiated the process. The Ministry worked on the drafting process of the National Action Plan, in coordination with civil society, such as NGOs and experts.
3. Monitoring and Evaluation
Evaluation Committee of the National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security has been set up since April 2016.
