Applications are first reviewed by The Japan Foundation's American Advisory Committee (AAC), a group of distinguished scholars and executives of cultural and educational organizations in the United States (see p. 26). Based on the recommendations of the AAC, final selection of grantees is made by The Japan Foundation headquarters in Tokyo, and applicants usually are notified of the results in April.
