Current Status of Implementation 2009
- Country
- All 10 ITTO member countries in Africa (Cameroon/Central African Republic/Republic of Congo/Côte d’Ivoire/DRC/Gabonese Republic/Ghana/Liberia/Nigeria/Togo)
- Status
- Following activities were implemented;
1) Promotion of bio-energy: The regional forum on the promotion of wood-based energy using wood residues and wastes in tropical countries was organized on ad hoc basis, for the exchange of experience and dissemination of knowledge and techniques on this issue;
2) Timber processing: The holding of the international workshop on innovations in tropical forestry and forest product industries (innovations for tropical timber) has given rise to a series of recommendations which were not followed by the submission of project or pre-project proposals by ITTO member countries in Africa in 2009.
3) Forest investment: ITTO has carried out four national fora in Brazzaville, Congo, in February 2009 in order to contribute to strengthen policies and opportunities for forest investment in its selected member countries. That country has not submitted a project or pre-project proposal, in 2009, as follow-up actions for the implementation of main recommendations of the national forum.
