JENESYS ASEAN-Japan Sports (Rugby) x SDGs Exchange Program
October 22, 2026
From October 27 to November 3, approximately 80 high school students interested in rugby from Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries will visit Japan to participate in the program “JENESYS ASEAN-Japan Sports (Rugby) x SDGs Exchange”, touring Tokyo, Kanagawa and Tochigi.
- With the cooperation of the Japan Rugby Football Union (JRFU), the students will attend a lecture on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) initiatives undertaken by the union, as well as experience tag rugby, a sport that can be enjoyed equally by everyone regardless of race, age, or gender. In Tokyo, in addition to interacting with Japanese high school students, they will pay a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They are also scheduled to engage in sports-related exchanges and site visits in Kanagawa, and participate in cultural experiences in Tochigi.
- Through this exchange program, it is expected that youth from the ASEAN region will deepen their understanding of ASEAN-Japan relations, increase their interest in the SDGs through sports (rugby), foster friendship among participating youth, and actively share their experiences of visiting places in Japan and playing tag rugby there via social media and other platforms.
