1. Overview
“JENESYS” is a people-to-people exchange program launched in 2015 between Japan and the Asia-Pacific region. It is a successor program of JENESYS (2007-2012) and JENESYS2.0 (2013-2015).
2. Objectives
- To promote mutual trust and understanding among the peoples of Japan and the Asia-Pacific region, and to build a basis for future friendship and cooperation.
- To encourage an understanding of Japan’s economy, society, history, diverse culture, politics and diplomatic relations, and to build networks in these fields.
- To convey information on the learnings of the program and the charms of Japan to the general public in the region through Social Networking Services and others by participants.
3. Programs
(1) INBOUND program (from Asia-Pacific region)
- Participants: Students (high school / university / graduate) and professional individuals
- Duration: Approximately 10 days (including online pre-program)
- Contents:
- To attend lectures about Japanese politics, economy, society, history, culture, and diplomatic relations, etc. related to the program theme or specific area to promote a better understanding of Japan.
- To visit educational sites and institutions, high-tech and traditional industries, world heritage sites, provincial government office; and participating in cross-cultural events, workshops, and discussions with local people.
- To participate in hands-on learning experience such as home-stays or home-visits, and cultural arts events.
- To convey information on the learnings of the program and the charms of Japan to the general public in the region through Social Networking Services and others by participants.
(2) OUTBOUND program (to Asia-Pacific region)
- Participants: Japanese students (high school / university / graduate)
- Durations: Approximately 10 days (including online program)
- Contents:
- To convey information on Japanese politics, economy, society, history, culture, and diplomatic relations, etc. related to the program theme or specific area to promote a better understanding of Japan.
- To visit Japanese companies, ODA sites, and educational sites, research institutions; and participating in cross-cultural events, workshops, and discussions with local people.
- To participate in hands-on learning experiences such as home-stays or home-visits, and cultural arts events.
- To convey information on the learnings of the program and the charms of Japan to the general public in the region through Social Networking Services and others by participants during / after the program.
(3) Online Exchange Program
- Participants:Students (high school / university / graduate) and professional individuals
- Contents:Webinar, Exchange of opinion, Cultural Exchange, Virtual site-visit and experience
(4) Programs for Alumni
- Participants:Previous invitees of JENESYS (2015 - present)
- Contents:
- Alumni Association (face-to-face / online)
This Includes support for activities of alumni groups, introduction of Japanese Organizations expanding overseas, and cultural exchange with Japan etc.. - Online Student Conference (with specific themes)
e.g. Discussion, Workshop, Webinar, Virtual site-visit and experience, Dissemination of information on Japan - Online Opinion Exchange Meeting regarding "JENESYS" projects with Japanese experts and Alumni.
- Online Learning Program for Alumni (with specific themes)
- Alumni Association (face-to-face / online)
- Duration:Approximately 10 days (including pre-program)
- e.g. Webinar, Virtual site-visit and experience, Exchange of opinion, Disseminate information on Japan
