On December 2, commencing at around 3:55 p.m. for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. MOTEGI Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a meeting with H.E. Dr. Adel Al-Jubeir, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, who is visiting Japan. The overview of the meeting is as follows.

1. Minister Motegi stated "I welcome your visit to Japan. I am happy to be able to meet you for the first time. I would like to cooperate with you for strengthening the bilateral relationship." In response, Minister Jubeir stated "I would like to extend my gratitude for welcoming. I would like to closely cooperate with you."

2. The Ministers exchanged views regarding the regional situation and agreed on coordinating closely toward easing tensions and stabilizing the situation in the Middle East. Also, the Ministers shared the view on cooperating to ensure safety of navigation in the Middle East.

3. The Ministers confirmed that their bilateral relationship has been developed steadily through recent meetings at the high level and also shared the view on further enhancing their bilateral relationship through the frameworks such as the Japan-Saudi Vision 2030(PDF)別ウィンドウで開く and the G20 framework.
