The Terror Attacks by the Houthis on Saudi Crude Oil Facilities in Eastern Province

1. On Saturday, September 14, the Government of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced that crude oil facilities in Abqaiq and Khurais in Eastern Province suffered terror attacks by drones and that oil production in Saudi Arabia has partially stopped due to the attacks. The Houthis in Yemen issued a statement that they had carried out the drone attacks against the facilities.
2. The peace and stability in the Middle East is extremely important for the peace and stability of the entire international community. Stable oil supply from the Middle East region is indispensable for the stability and prosperity of the global economy including Japan. The Government of Japan strongly denounces such terror attacks.
3. The Government of Japan remains committed to continuously engaging with the region in cooperation with countries concerned so as to maintain and reinforce the peace and stability in the Middle East.
