Foreign Minister Kishida to Visit Kagawa Prefecture and Hyogo Prefecture
(Sixth Round of the “Local to Global” Project)

1. On July 22 and 23, Mr. Fumio Kishida, Minister for Foreign Affairs, is scheduled to visit Kagawa Prefecture and Hyogo Prefecture with the diplomatic corps in Japan, circumstances permitting. Minister Kishida is scheduled to be accompanied by Mr. Shunsuke Takei, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, for the entire visit.

2. This visit constitutes the sixth round of the “Local to Global” Project, following on from the visits to Miyagi Prefecture in November 2016, Okinawa Prefecture in February 2017, Kumamoto and Fukuoka Prefectures in March, Aomori Prefecture and Hokkaido in April, and Ishikawa Prefecture in June. This project is designed to make the attractiveness of regional areas in Japan known throughout the world, as well as attract many foreign visitors and investments to Japan. The upcoming visit aims to deepen dialogue with local people on how to convey the appeal of Kagawa Prefecture and Hyogo Prefecture, and thereby contribute to the further revitalization of the region.

3. During the visit to Kagawa Prefecture on July 22, Minister Kishida is scheduled to visit sightseeing spots and other locations in Takamatsu City and Shodo Island, in order to promote and convey the attractiveness of Kagawa Prefecture to the world, and hold informal talks and other discussions with the diplomatic corps in Japan and local representatives.

4. During the visit to Hyogo Prefecture on July 23, Minister Kishida is scheduled to offer flowers at the Earthquake Memorial Monument and hold informal talks with the Kansai Consular Corps and local representatives, along with holding a symposium at Kobe University entitled “Dialogue with Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida: Conveying Hyogo Prefecture’s Appeal to the World,” where he is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech and participate in a panel discussion.
