1. The Seminar on Capacity Building in Maritime Security and Disaster Relief will be held in Tokyo from September 24 to 26.

2. This Seminar will be held as a follow-up to the keynote address delivered by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at the Shangri-La Dialogue held in Singapore at the end of May this year. In the seminar, Japan’s security policy of “Proactive Contribution to Peace” will be explaned to ASEAN countries in order to promote their understanding and exchanging views will be held on Japan’s support for ASEAN countries in the fields of maritime security and disaster relief. This Seminar is expected to promote concrete and steady security and defense cooperation between Japan and ASEAN countries.

3. This Seminar is scheduled to be attended by working-level officials in charge of related policies at foreign affairs ministries, national defense ministries and other ministries from ASEAN member countries. From the Japanese side, National Security Secretariat, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Foreign Affairs will attend.
