Japan-Jordan Relations

On September 2, commencing at around 5:25 p.m. for approximately 15 minutes, Mr. ABE Shinzo, Prime Minister of Japan, held a summit telephone talk with His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The overview of the talk is as follows.

1. King Abdullah II expressed his pleasure at having been able to work with Prime Minister Abe on the development of bilateral relations and the challenges of the Middle East region, and reiterated his high regard for Prime Minister Abe's contributions to date.

2. In response, Prime Minister Abe explained that he was stepping down from his position as Prime Minister. He expressed his gratitude to the King, for the significant development of the strategic partnership between the two countries, as well as for various other forms of cooperation, referring to his two visits to Jordan.

3. The two leaders shared the view that their countries would continue to work closely together in the future.
