Japan-Jordan Summit Telephone Talk

Mr. ABE Shinzo, Prime Minister of Japan, had a telephone talk for approximately 20 minutes commencing at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday April 23, 2020 with His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The overview is as follows.
- King Abdullah II explained Jordan’s efforts regarding novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). In response, Prime Minister Abe expressed his respect for King Abdullah II for his leadership.
- Prime Minister Abe explained the measures in Japan in response to COVID-19 while stating that he intends to cooperate with Jordan in combating the spread of the disease and overcoming the economic challenges caused by COVID-19, as well as to closely work together toward the regional stability. In response, King Abdullah II appreciated the support by Japan and stated that he would like to promote cooperation in various areas.
- Both leaders shared the view to continue close collaboration to prevent the spread of the COVID-19, as well as to reinforce Japan-Jordan strategic partnership.
