TICAD

The logo is colored emerald green (combination of the color of the sea in Yokohama with green color that is used in national flags of various African countries), which has an image of growing majestically. To commemorate TICAD 9, the number 9 is illustrated as a simple yet powerful character, in the map of the Continent.

The TICAD 9 logo will be used at official events by the Government of Japan and co-organizers s of TICAD (United Nations, United Nations Development Program (UNDP), World Bank and African Union Commission(AUC)). In addition, other partners such as governmental organizations, international organizations, local governments, diplomatic corps, private companies, NGO, civil societies are able to use the logo at projects that are within the criteria described below.

1. The logo could be used for projects that meet the conditions below.
   • (A) projects or publications for promoting Africa’s development
   • (B) projects or publications that contribute to fostering relationship between Japan and Africa
2. Projects and Publications that fall under any following category will not be permitted even if they meet the conditions listed above.
   • (A) projects or publications that slander TICAD or make misunderstanding regarding TICAD
   • (B) projects or publications that are mainly for the purpose of selling products and services, making profits
   • (C) projects or publications that are in the interest of a certain political party or political organization
   • (D) projects or publications that are in the interest of a certain religion, sect or religious group
   • (E) projects or publications that are related to activities or management of a gangster group
   • (F) projects or publications that are for the purpose of promoting fame of a certain individual or organization

Please fill in the application form (Word), submit necessary documents and apply to the Secretariat for TICAD, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan via e-mail. Please make sure that the application reaches the Secretariat for TICAD three weeks before the usage of the logo. The Secretariat for TICAD will inform you of the result of whether the logo usage is accepted or not.

Application period will be until 1st August 2025. The logo approval will be given to events that finish before 31st December 2025 in principle.

1. The permission for using the logo does not mean that subsidies will be provided.
2. Documents submitted will not be sent back. Please make sure to make copies if needed.
3. Even if the usage of logo is permitted, the responsibility of using the logo and implementation of the project lie under the applicant. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan will not take any responsibilities.
4. Please submit a report after using the logo.
5. If there are any changes of the purpose or on how to use the logo, or in case the project is cancelled, please submit a notification document (the template is available) to the Secretariat for TICAD, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan as soon as possible.
6. Even if permission is given to use the logo, the usage of logo would be cancelled and goods with the logo should be recalled in case it is found that the application was fraud, or the usage of logo does not meet the criteria.
7. The logo will be sent after approval to applicants who wish to use the logo. The usage of the logo will be restricted for purposes that were declared upon application.
8. Please make sure the application reaches the Secretariat for TICAD three weeks before using the logo.
9. Please do not edit the design of the logo. Please make space between the logo and words or other designs. Please make sure that the words written on the logo are readable in size.
10. An organization approved for a thematic event or a partner project may include the TICAD 9 logo on the business cards of persons affiliated with the organization, provided that the logo is not used for commercial purposes. In addition, such cards must include the following statement: “We will hold a thematic event at TICAD 9.” or “We are organizing a TICAD 9 partner project”.
