People-to-People Exchange

March 12, 2025
  1. From March 12 to March 19, 2025, 37 high school students from Pacific Island countries—namely Cook Islands, Kiribati, the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Niue, Palau, Samoa and Solomon Islands, will visit Japan to participate in the “JENESYS 2024” program aiming to deepen their knowledge about Japan through the themes of “Climate change” and “Japanese culture”.
  2. The group will visit facilities in Tokyo, then split into groups to visit either Kochi Prefecture or Oita prefecture, where they will participate in programs related to climate change and Japanese culture, experience home stays, and engage in other activities.
  3. It is expected that each participant in the group will serve as a future bridge to further strengthen the “kizuna” (bond of trust) between Japan and the Pacific Islands countries, and that through their experiences in this program they will learn about initiatives for tackling climate change and Japanese culture, discover various attractive aspects of the places they visit, and deepen their understanding of the Japanese way of life.
