Exchange of views between State Minister KUNIMITSU and  the Delegation of young Malaysian political party members

On March 26, from 3:00 p.m. for approximately 30 minutes, State Minister for Foreign Affairs KUNIMITSU Ayano received a courtesy call from five young Malaysian political party members, who are visiting Japan under the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as part of JENESYS 2025, a people-to-people exchange program promoted by the MOFA. The overview of the courtesy call is as follows:

  1. At the outset, State Minister KUNIMITSU welcomed the delegation's visit to Japan and stated that Japan and Malaysia have built excellent relations through the Look East Policy and other initiatives spanning over 40 years. As next year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, the Japanese government intends to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries based on the "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership" upgraded in 2023.
  2. In response, the participants stated that they learned a lot through exchanges of opinions and interactions with Diet members, local governments, and others during this visit, and that upon returning home, they would like to utilize their experience to further promote Japan-Malaysia relations.
  3. In addition, State Minister KUNIMITSU discussed regional and international affairs with the participants.
