On March 12, from 3 p. m. for approximately 30 minutes, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Akiko Ikuina received a courtesy call from ten Cambodian youths involved in politics (two from the ruling party, seven from opposition parties, and one from civil society), who are visiting Japan under the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as part of JENESYS 2024, a people-to-people exchange program promoted by the MOFA. The overview of the courtesy call is as follows.

  1. At the outset, Parliamentary Vice-Minister Ikuina welcomed the delegation's visit to Japan and mentioned that this invitation program is one of Japan's key initiatives to support Cambodia's democratic development. She expressed her hope that the exchanges and dialogues among the participants, across different parties, would contribute to the democratic development of Cambodia.
  2. In response, the participants expressed their gratitude for Japan's support, including this invitation program, and conveyed their expectations for the continued cooperation with Japan and their enthusiasm for Cambodia's democratic development, taking Japan as an example.
