Visit to the Republic of Poland (Warsaw and Krakow) by Mrs. Akie Abe
June 15-18, 2013


From June 15 to June 18, Mrs. Akie Abe visited the Republic of Poland accompanying Prime Minister Shinzo Abe (Prime Minister’s visit until June 16), where she had various exchanges with many people.
In Warsaw, Mrs. Abe visited the Old Town guided by Mrs. Małgorzata Tusk, spouse of H.E.Mr. Donald Tusk, Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland, after which the two held a meeting during lunch. At the luncheon held on the following day with Mrs. Anna Komorowska, spouse of H.E.Mr. Bronisław Komorowski, President of the Republic of Poland, Mrs. Abe handed to Mrs. Komorowska handiwork made by the children of Ashinome Hoshiya Kindergarten in Kesennuma representing their appreciation for Mrs. Komorowska’s efforts in reconstructing the kindergarten after the Great East Japan Earthquake. In Krakow, Mrs. Abe visited the Manggha Museum of Japanese Art and Technology, where she enjoyed watching a “Yosakoi Soran” dance, the procedures for making tea by the Association Senshinkai Sadou Urasenke in Krakow, and Japanese language classes conducted at the attached Japanese school with Mrs. Krystyna Zachwatowicz-Wajda, spouse of Film Director Andrzej Wajda. Furthermore, she had exchanges with Polish people deeply associated with Japan, attended events on Japan, and further promoted friendship with the pro-Japanese country of Poland.
