(i) Central African Republic
(a)Installed some 1,000 public and household latrines, built or rehabilitated 62 water points, repaired 50 hand pumps and drilled 26 wells. (b)In parallel, the residents of 259 villages were coached on hygiene practices and National Society personnel were also trained to ensure maintain water points. (c)180,000 people benefited from the projects.
(ii)DRC
(a)Water-trucking was undertaken to adress the daily water needs of IDPs living in such as overcrowded camps or ill-equipped public buildings in the Kivus. (b)Rural and urben water facilities were installed, rehabilitated or maintained lowering helth risks of the residents and IDPs in Katanga and the Kivus. Water systems were installed or rehabilitated in 14 villages. (c)The urban water and electricity boards received ICRC logistical and technical support to improve water supply infrastructure in three towns. (d)624,190 people benefited from the projects.
