Current Status of Implementation 2009

- (i) Development of a manual is underway to facilitate the development and revision of Global Map data in accordance with the new specifications by developing countries including those in African Region.
(ii) Through the technical assistance of the Geographical Survey Institute (GSI) and the JICA group training course, Global Map data of Africa’s 17 countries and one region have been developed and released as of 1 March 2010.

Current Status of Implementation 2008

- (i) As of October 20, 2008, Global Map data of 15 countries/one region of Africa have been developed and released through technical assistance of GSI and JICA group training course.
(ii) Global Map-global version (Global Land Cover by National Mapping Organizations (GLCNMO) and Percent Tree Cover), which includes African region, were released on June 5, 2008.
(iii) Promote the utilization of Global Map data in African countries by creating and disseminating utilization examples.
