“International Workshop on the Revision of Specifications for Global Map Version 2” was held in Tsukuba, Ibaraki, Japan from 8 to 10 September 2009. From Africa, technical experts of two countries, Kenya and Nigeria, participated in and completed drafting of the specifications to facilitate the utilization and provision of Global Map, through discussions and presentations towards the development and revision of Global Map Version 2. The draft was adopted at the 16th Meeting of International Steering Committee for Global Mapping (ISCGM) held in Thailand on 25 October 2009.

Current Status of Implementation 2008

The 15th Meeting of the ISCGM in Tokyo on 4 June, 2008 and Global Mapping Forum 2008 at United Nations University from 5 to 7 June 2008 were held by inviting Director of Surveys of Kenya and Directeur Direction des Travaux Géographiques et Cartographiques of Senegal, where views and opinions were exchanged on the development, revision and application of Global Map in Africa.
