State Minister for Foreign Affairs KUNIMITSU’s Attendance at the G7 Development Ministers’ Meeting (Results)
From April 29 to April 30, Dr. KUNIMITSU Ayano, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, attended the G7 Development Ministers’ Meeting held in Paris, France, and held bilateral meetings with participating countries.
1. Attendance at the G7 Development Ministers’ Meeting
On April 29 and 30, State Minister KUNIMITSU attended the G7 Development Ministers’ Meeting, and held discussions with her counterparts on cooperation in the development sector, in preparation for the G7 Evian Summit to be held in June. At the meeting, State Minister KUNIMITSU highlighted the need for all development cooperation providers, including emerging donors, to deliver transparent and fair development cooperation in respect of international rules and standards. Regarding infrastructure investment, she emphasized the importance of like-minded partners work together to enhance regional autonomy and resilience from a geopolitical perspective, and stated that Japan will continue to strategically and effectively leverage development cooperation to promote quality infrastructure development.
2. Bilateral meetings with participating countries
On the occasion of the G7 Development Ministers’ Meeting, State Minister KUNIMITSU held bilateral meetings with H.E. Ms. Eléonore Caroit, Minister Delegate to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, responsible for Francophonie, International Partnerships, and French Citizens Abroad, Baroness Jenny Chapman of Darlington, Minister of State, Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Ms. Reem Alabali-Radovan, Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, and Ms. Jina Kim, 2nd Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, where she exchanged views on strengthening coordination in the development sector.
