State Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. KUNIMITSU’s Visit to the United States and France

From April 26 to April 30, Dr. KUNIMITSU Ayano, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, will visit the United States and France.
- In the United States, State Minister KUNIMITSU will attend the 11th Review Conference of the Parties to the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) and made a national statement on behalf of the Government of Japan, and participate in other events including the side event on the International Group of Eminent Persons for a World Without Nuclear Weapons.
- In France, State Minister KUNIMITSU will attend the G7 Development Ministers’ meeting and exchange candid views on development issues with her G7 counterparts, towards the G7 Evian Summit to be held in June.

(Reference2) Overview of the NPT Review Conference
- Date: April 27 to May 22
- The State parties of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) hold a Review Conference every five years in accordance with Article 8, paragraph 3 of the Treaty, to review the operation of the Treaty and ensure compliance with its provisions. A preparatory committee is held annually for three years prior to the Review Conference. The previous Review Conference was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was held in August 2022.

- Date: April 29 to April 30
- The G7 development ministers discuss the G7's approach to various development challenges at this meeting, building upon the outcomes of the Evian Summit held in June of this year. The chair of this meeting is Éléonore Caroit, Minister Delegate to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, responsible for Francophonie, International Partnerships, and French Citizens Abroad. In addition to the G7 countries and the EU, invited countries and international organizations are also expected to participate.
