Reception Co-hosted by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Governor of Nagano Prefecture

On March 18, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Governor of Nagano Prefecture co-hosted a reception “Set among beautiful mountains and clear waters ~The Mountain Highland Resort NAGANO” at the Iikura Guest House, attended by approximately 210 people, including diplomatic corps to Japan, foreign chambers of commerce stationed in Japan, business representatives and Diet Members from Nagano Prefecture. The overview of the reception is as follows.
- The reception is a program co-hosted by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and a head of local government to promote local diverse charms both domestically and internationally by inviting diplomatic corps in Japan and other guests to the Iikura Guest House. This is the 27th one.
- At the beginning of the reception, Mr. IWAYA Takeshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Mr. ABE Shuichi, Governor of Nagano Prefecture gave their opening remarks, and then, Mr. YODA Meizen, Chairman of the Nagano Prefectural Assembly, made a toast. In his speech, Mr. IWAYA stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been making efforts towards regional revitalization including expanding sales channels for Japanese alcoholic beverages and agricultural products, as well as attracting inbound visitors, by making maximum use of the facilities of the Iikura Guest House and overseas diplomatic missions, in cooperation with local governments. Further, Mr. IWAYA expressed the desire for cooperation to help promote the charms that Nagano Prefecture is proud of, such as food and traditional crafts, to the world.
- The reception featured booths introducing tourism, food, traditional crafts, initiatives for promoting long and healthy lives of Nagano Prefecture, as well as demonstrations of Togakushi buckwheat noodles making and Togakure-ryu Ninja show on stage to promote diverse charms of Nagano Prefecture.
