State Minister for Foreign Affairs MIYAJI’s attendance at the "International Forum on Acceptance of Foreign Nationals and Their Integration into Japan”

On February 13, Mr. MIYAJI Takuma, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, attended the "International Forum on Acceptance of Foreign Nationals and Their Integration into Japan," co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), held in Tokyo, Japan. The overview is as follows.

  1. In his opening remarks, State Minister MIYAJI stated that foreign residents are expected to contribute to the vitality and development of local communities by taking advantage of their diverse backgrounds, and that deepening dialogue with people coming from different cultural backgrounds is the first step toward realizing integration and inclusion of foreign nationals in the community. State Minister MIYAJI also expressed his hope for lively and fruitful discussions on "Domestic and International Partnership among Municipalities towards Realizing Integration and Inclusion of Foreign Nationals in the Society," which is the theme of the forum.
  2. At the forum, following the opening remarks by State Minister MIYAJI, Co-host’s speech by Ms. Ugochi DANIELS, Deputy Director General of the IOM, and lectures by Japanese and international experts were given. In addition, a panel discussion was held, moderated by Mr. YAMAWAKI Keizo, Professor of Meiji University, which led to lively discussions among the participants.
