Entry into Force of the Agreement between the Government of Japan And the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany Concerning Reciprocal Provision of Supplies and Services Between the Self-Defense Forces of Japan and the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Germany

On July 12, the Government of Japan notified the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany of the completion of the internal procedures necessary for the entry into force of the Agreement between the Government of Japan and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany Concerning Reciprocal Provision of Supplies and Services between the Self-Defense Forces of Japan and the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Germany ("Acquisition and Cross-Servicing Agreement", or ACSA), which was received by the Government of Federal Republic of Germany on the same date. As the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany has already made its notification of the completion of its internal procedure on May 16, 2024, with the notification from the Government of Japan, the Agreement will enter into force on July 12, 2024.

  1. The Agreement establishes a framework such as the settlement procedures for the reciprocal provision of supplies and services between the Self-Defense Forces of Japan and the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Germany.
  2. The Agreement will facilitate the smooth and prompt provision of supplies and services between the Self-Defense Forces of Japan and the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Germany. The Agreement will also promote their closer cooperation and enable them to actively contribute to peace and security of the international society.
