Information sheet in English on the situation of ALPS-treated water at the TEPCO’s Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (FDNPS)
1. On 16 September, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan released an information sheet on the situation of the ALPS-treated water at the TEPCO’s FDNPS, as attached (PDF).
2. The Government of Japan (GOJ) prepared the information sheet to provide information to the international community in a courteous and transparent manner, taking the opportunity of the IAEA General Conference (from 16th to 20th September), focusing on the current situation of the TEPCO’s FDNPS storing of the ALPS-treated water, from which most of the nuclides except tritium have been removed, and the close and continuous cooperation between Japan and the IAEA in this area.
3. Particularly, the GOJ aims at providing a clear explanation to the international community with regard to the differences between contaminated water and the ALPS-treated water, which are often confused.
4. The GOJ continues to provide correct information to the international community based on scientific evidence.
