The 7th Japan-U.S. Non-Proliferation Dialogue
1. The 7th Japan-U.S. Non-Proliferation Dialogue was held on August 6 and 7 in Tokyo. Mr. Koji Kano, Deputy Director-General of Disarmament, Non-Proliferation and Science Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Yoichi Iida, Director-General of Trade Control Department, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, represented Japan, and Mr. Gonzalo Suarez, Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary, Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation, U.S. Department of State, represented the United States.
2. This dialogue is held annually between Japan and the United States to address proliferation challenges including those related to weapons of mass destruction.
3. The two countries exchanged their views on a wide range of non-proliferation issues, including international export control regimes, regional proliferation challenges and Intangible Technology Transfer. Both sides agreed to continue this dialogue.
