First Joint Foreign Affairs and Security Consultation (Pol-Mil Dialogue) between Japan and Jordan

1. On July 9, 2019, the first politico-military dialogue (Pol-Mil Dialogue)was held between Japan and Jordan.

2. On the Japanese side, the dialogue was attended by the Director General of the Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Katsuhiko Takahashi; the Director General for International Affairs of the Bureau of Defense Policy in the Ministry of Defense, Mr. Hideo Suzuki; and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Defense and the National Security Secretariat. On the Jordanian side, the dialogue was attended by Mr. Malek Twal; Director of Asia and Oceania Bureau in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Major General Halal Al-Khawaldeh; Chief of staff of Planning, Organization and Defense Resources, Jordan Armed Forces, and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Jordan Armed Forces.

3. The dialogue was decided to be established at the summit between Prime Minister Abe and the King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, H.M. King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein during H.M. King Abdullah II's visit to Japan on November 27, 2018.

4. The meeting dealt with a wide range of issues, including regional situations and security issues.
