Mr. Tsuji, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, received a courtesy call by Dr. Najat Mokhtar, Deputy Director General of the IAEA
On April 11, Mr. Kiyoto Tsuji, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, received a courtesy call by Dr. Najat Mokhtar, Deputy Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), for approximately 20 minutes beginning at 11:25 am. The overview of the courtesy call is as follows.
1. Mr. Tsuji welcomed the visit of Dr. Mokhtar to Japan, and expressed his hope that this visit will strengthen the cooperation between Japan and the IAEA.
2. Mr. Tsuji emphasized the importance of increasing the number of Japanese staff in the IAEA in order to further enhance the cooperation between Japan and the IAEA.
3. Dr. Mokhtar expressed her appreciation to Government of Japan for its cooperation with the IAEA so far. She also mentioned that Japan has made siginificant contributions to IAEA’s activities, and she asked Japan to continue to support IAEA’s activities.

Dr. Mokhtar, Deputy Director General and Head of Department of Nuclear Sciences and Applications, IAEA is visiting Japan from April 7 to April 12, to deliver a Special Presentation at the Japan Atomic Industrial Forum (JAIF) Annual Conference. On this occasion, she has also had oppportuniteis to exchange views with researchers in universities, research insititutions and private companies in Japan with a view to enhancing cooperation between Japan and the IAEA.
