The 1st meeting of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Initiative (CSPI) between Japan and the United Arab Emirates
On August 9, commencing at 11:00 a.m. for approximately 3 hours, Mr. Masahisa Sato, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, held the 1st meeting of Japan-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Initiative (CSPI) with H.E. Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State of the United Arab Emirates and CEO of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company(ADNOC) . The overview of the meeting is as follows.
1. Both ministers welcomed their assignment as ministers to follow up on the Japan-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Initiative (CSPI) based on “the Joint Statement on Deepening and Strengthening Strategic Partnership (PDF)” which was issued on the occasion of the visit of Mr. Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan, to the United Arab Emirates in April this year, and had frank discussions on the current status and future approaches forward of 12 fields of cooperation mentioned in the aforementioned Joint Statement. Both ministers confirmed continuous cooperation through CSPI with the purpose of further enhancing cooperation in broader fields.
2. Both ministers exchanged views on regional situations including the Middle East.
