JET Programme 30th Anniversary Commemorative Ceremony, Commemorative Reception, and Other Events to be Held
1. The JET Programme, which was established in 1987, will be marking its 30th anniversary this year, and on November 7, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR) will hold “JET Programme 30th Anniversary Commemorative Ceremony and Commemorative Reception,” and other events.
2. The Commemorative Ceremony will be attended by His Imperial Highness the Crown Prince, as well as the representatives of the relevant ministries, the President of CLAIR, and individuals associated with the JET Programme, among others. Furthermore, the event will include commemorative addresses by ambassadors to Japan, presentations on the activities of the JET Programme participants, and JET Programme video contest award ceremony.
3. A Commemorative Reception will be held following the above-mentioned Ceremony.
4. As a related event, “2016 JET International Meeting” is scheduled to be held on November 6, at which representatives of JET alumni,current JET participants, and others will hold discussions concerning the nature of future activities and initiatives for deepening ties between their home countries and Japan.

The JET Programme was launched in 1987 with the objective of enhancing foreign language education and promoting international exchanges in regional areas by inviting young people from foreign countries and assigning them to the local governments and other organizations. The positions offered for the participants consist of Assistant Language Teacher (ALT), Coordinator for International Relations (CIR), and Sports Exchange Advisor (SEA).
