Protest against China regarding Chinese Coast Guard vessels in the surrounding waters of the Senkaku Islands

1. Despite Japan’s repeated protests, while six Chinese Coast Guard vessels have not exited the contiguous zone, furthermore, at approximately 2:15 pm on August 6, an additional Chinese Coast Guard vessel entered the contiguous zone, confirming a total of seven Chinese Coast Guard vessels inside the contiguous zone.
2. Against this backdrop, at approximately 6:15 pm, Mr. Kenji Kanasugi, Director-General, Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau, strongly protested against Ms. Guo Yan, Minister, Embassy of China in Japan, that Japan cannot accept China’s activities as they are unilateral escalation that raise tensions on the ground, and requested to have the Chinese Coast Guard vessels leave the contiguous zone immediately.
