Protest Against the Intrusion of Chinese Coast Guard into Japan’s territorial waters surrounding the Senkaku Islands

1. Today, August 6, at approximately 8:05 am, it was confirmed that six Chinese Coast Guard vessels were in Japan’s contiguous zone west of the Senkaku Islands, as well as approximately 230 fishing vessels in the surrounding waters.
2. Against this backdrop, at approximately 11:45 am the same day, the Director-General of the Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau, strongly protested against China’s unilateral escalation of the situation in the surrounding areas of the Senkaku Island to the Minister of the Embassy of China in Japan, and strongly requested that Japan cannot approve such situation whatsoever and that these government vessels leave the contiguous zone immediately and not enter Japan’s territorial waters whatsoever.
