The 4th Japan-China-ROK Trilateral Table Top Exercise (TTX) on Disaster Management
1. The 4th Japan-China-ROK Trilateral Table Top Exercise (TTX) on Disaster Management was held on June 22 in Seoul, ROK, hosted by the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS). The Japanese delegation, composed of representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Cabinet Office, and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) ,participated in this exercise.
2. In this TTX, the participants discussed the status of cooperative framework including step-by-step response procedure in the event of typhoon disaster, foreign rescue team, request for relief as well as reception and distribution of relief supply, deployment of rescue team and relief support to share the manual and procedure regarding disaster management, and to identify ways to enhance cooperation for effective large-scale natural disaster response.
3. Besides the exercise on typhoon response, the participants also exchanged their views on the lessons learned from the respective overseas disaster relief experiences during the 2015 Nepal large-scale Earthquake in order to promote the effectiveness of international relief effort in response to large-scale natural disasters in the future.
(Japan-China-ROK Trilateral Table Top Exercise)
The Japan-China-ROK Trilateral Table Top Exercise started in response to the Trilateral Summit meeting held in May 2011, where the three countries shared the view of promoting trilateral cooperation in disaster management. The 1st TTX was held in March 2013, in Seoul, ROK, the 2nd one was held in March 2014 in Tokyo and the 3rd one was held in April 2015 in Beijing in China.
