State Minister Kiuchi to Attend International Conference on Nepal’s Reconstruction

1. The Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal will hold the International Conference on Nepal’s Reconstruction in the capital city of Kathmandu on June 25, in the interests of recovering and rebuilding from the major earthquake that struck on April 25. Mr. Minoru Kiuchi, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, will attend the conference as the representive of the Government of Japan, and is scheduled to announce Japan’s support measures for Nepal.

2. The conference will be attended from the Government of Nepal by the Right Honourable Mr. Sushil Koirala, Prime Minister, the Honourable Mr. Mahendra Bahadur Pandey, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Ram Sharan Mahat, Finance Minister. Key figures from important donor countries and international organizations are also scheduled to attend.

3. Additionally, State Minister Kiuchi is scheduled to meet with Nepalese government officials, including Prime Minister Koirala and Foreign Minister Pandey, during his visit to Nepal, and exchange views on initiatives for firmly establishing democracy, including reconstructing Nepal and formulating a new constitution.
