Sixth Round of Negotiations (DG/DDG Meetings) on a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) among Japan, China and the ROK

1. The sixth round of negotiations (DG/DDG Meetings) on a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) among Japan, China and the Republic of Korea (ROK) was held in Tokyo from November 24 to 28.

2. From the Japanese side, Mr. Tatsuo Sato, Deputy Director-General, Economic Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Japan’s Co-Chair), and representatives from other relevant Ministries attended the meeting. From the Chinese side, Mr. Sung Yuan Jiang, Deputy Director General, Department of International Trade and Economic Affairs, Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China (China’s Co-Chair), and other representatives attended the meeting. From the Korean side, Mr. Kim Young moo, Director-General for FTA negotiations and East Asia FTA, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of the Republic of Korea (Korea’s Co-Chair), and other representatives attended the meeting.

3. In the meetings, various areas such as Trade in Goods, Trade in Services, Competition Policies, Intellectual Property, amongst others, were discussed.

4. The sixth round of negotiations (Chief Delegates Meetings) on a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) among Japan, China and the Republic of Korea (ROK) will be held in the middle of January.
