Dispatch of Ambassador on Special Mission to the Inauguration Ceremony of the President of the Republic of Indonesia

1. The Government of Japan has decided to dispatch former Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Yasuo Fukuda as Ambassador on Special Mission to the inauguration ceremony of H. E. Mr. Joko Widodo as President of the Republic of Indonesia, which is scheduled to be held in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia on October 20.

2. Indonesia, which has long maintained amicable relations with Japan, has been achieving significant results, including the establishment of democracy, political stability and steady economic development, and its presence is increasing in the international community, including attaining membership of G20.

3. In this context, Indonesia is becoming an increasingly important strategic partner of Japan which shares fundamental values and many common interests. The Government of Japan has made the decision this time to show its willingness to continuously emphasize its relationship with this important partner.
