The Signing of the Japan-Australia Economic Partnership Agreement

1. On June 8 (Tue.), the Government of Japan decided at its Cabinet Meeting to sign the Japan-Australia Economic Partnership Agreement.
2. Based on this decision, H. E. Mr. Shinzo Abe, the Prime Minister of Japan, and The Hon. Tony Abbott MP, the Prime Minister of Australia, will sign this Agreement and its Implementing Agreement on the occasion of their meeting to be held on the same day in Canberra.
3. It is expected that this Agreement will promote the liberalization and facilitation of trade and investment between the two countries and will further vitalize both economies by strengthening reciprocal economic ties in wide-ranging fields.
