Assisting the development of legal systems that will contribute to achieving the rule of law is gaining in importance, a fact illustrated by Goal 16 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted in 2015: "Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels."
