FAQs
Question
1 What is gender mainstreaming?
Answer
Gender mainstreaming is a process of clarifying challenges, needs, and impacts on women and men at all stages of planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of all development policies, measures, and programs, based on the premise that development policies, measures, and programs have different implications for women and men. Its ultimate goal is to achieve gender equality.
Gender mainstreaming in development should be implemented with due consideration to ensuring that women and men participate in and benefit from development equally, and that inequality does not persist.
