Adoption of the amendment to Annex 2 and the modification to Implementing Regulations of the Agreement on Comprehensive Economic Partnership among Japan and Member States of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (AJCEP)

On July 17 (Fri.), pursuant to paragraph 5 of Article 77 of the Agreement on Comprehensive Economic Partnership among Japan and Member States of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (hereinafter referred to as “the Agreement”), as amended by the First Protocol to Amend the Agreement, the Joint Committee adopted the amendment to Annex 2 of the Agreement.
This amendment is to reflect the update of the Harmonized System from HS2017 to HS2022 on which Annex 2 of the Agreement is based. The amended Annex 2 of the Agreement will come into effect on February 15of 2027.
The Joint Committee also adopted the modification to Implementing Regulations of the Agreement which includes new Rule 17 (Transitional Provisions Incidental to the Amendment of Annex 2 of the Agreement). The modified Implementing Regulations will be implemented from February 15 of 2027.
