Japan-U.S. Summit Telephone Talk
On June 11, commencing at around 5:35 p.m. for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan, held a summit telephone talk with the Honorable Donald Trump, President of the United States of America, upon the initiative of President Trump. The overview of the talk is as follows.
1. Prior to the U.S.-North Korea Summit Meeting scheduled for the following day, June 12, President Trump explained the latest state of preparations.
2. The two leaders closely coordinated their policy for the U.S.-North Korea Summit Meeting, and reaffirmed that Japan and the United States, as well as Japan, the United States, and the Republic of Korea, are in complete agreement on the basic policy.
3. Both leaders also reaffirmed that President Trump will raise the abductions issue at the U.S.-North Korea Summit Meeting.
4. Both leaders shared the view to continue working together to ensure that the U.S.-North Korea Summit Meeting serves as a historic meeting for making progress on the abductions, nuclear and missile issues, and for taking a major step towards peace and stability in Northeast Asia.
