Courtesy Call on State Minister for Foreign Affairs HORII Iwao by Pacific Alliance Group under the “Juntos!! Japan-Latin America and the Caribbean exchange program”

On December 12, from 4:00 p.m. for approximately 30 minutes, State Minister for Foreign Affairs HORII Iwao received a courtesy call from four government officials from the Pacific Alliance countries —Colombia, Chile, Peru, and Mexico — who are visiting Japan under the “Juntos!! Japan-Latin America and the Caribbean exchange program”. The theme of the program is Green Growth and the SDGs. The summary of the meeting is as follows:
- State Minister Horii welcomed the visit and stated that Japan attaches great importance to strengthening relations with Latin American countries, which share values and principles and have a long history of friendship with Japan. He expressed Japan’s intention to further enhance its network with regional organizations in Latin America, including the Pacific Alliance.
- State Minister Horii and the participants exchanged views on cooperation in the fields of SDGs and green growth.
- The participants expressed their gratitude for the invitation and introduced initiatives being undertaken in their respective countries. They also stated that, upon returning home, they intend to share the knowledge gained through this visit and work to further strengthen relations between Japan and their countries.
