On July 4, commencing at 4:40 p.m. for approximately 10 minutes, Mr. Shinzo Abe, the Prime Minister, received a courtesy call from a total of 20 personnels who represented the On-Site Coordination Team, the Japan Self-Defense Forces (JSDF), and Japan Coast Guard who had been dispatched as a Japan Disaster Relief Team in response to the disappearance of the Malaysia Airlines plane. The overview of the meeting is as follows;

1. The representatives from the Japan Disaster Relief Team paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Abe and provided a report on the search and rescue operations that the team had conducted in the South China Sea, the Indian Ocean off Sumatra, and the ocean off Perth.

2. In response to the report, Prime Minister Abe, touching upon the fact that the rescue operations by the Japan Disaster Relief Team was highly appreciated by the international community including Malaysia and Australia, rewarded the members of the team for their services.

The dispatch of the Japan Disaster Relief Team in response to the disappearance of a Malaysia Airlines plane;

Based on the requests from the Governments of Malaysia and Australia, since March 11 the Government of Japan had dispatched the Japan Disaster Relief Team, which consisted of the members from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Japan Self-Defense Forces (JSDF), the Japan Coast Guard, and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), for the search and rescue operations in response to the disappearance of the Malaysia Airlines plane (MH370) on March 8.
