Call for Commemorative Events of the 2026 70th Anniversary of Japan’s Admission to the United Nations
The year 2026 marks the 70th anniversary of Japan’s admission to the United Nations.
To celebrate this memorable year together with as many people as possible and to contribute to the further development of relations between Japan and the United Nations, we are accepting applications for projects to be recognized as the “70th Anniversary of Japan’s Admission to the United Nations” Commemorative Events (hereinafter referred to as the “Commemorative Events”) and for the use of the official logo.
Those who wish to use the official logo mark (hereinafter referred to as the "Logo") are requested to carefully read the “The Guidelines for the Certification of Commemorative Events and Use of the Official Logo” below and submit the required documents accordingly.

Period of the Commemorative Events
The project should be implemented between 1 June 2026 and 31 December 2026.
Compliance Requirements for Commemorative Events
- The content of the project is beneficial to the further development of relations between Japan and the United Nations in such fields as culture, arts, sports, education, tourism, economy, science, and others (not limited to events and activities).
- The project is of public benefit and not primarily for profit.
- There is no damaging, or risk of damaging the credit or dignity of Japan or the United Nations.
- There is no violation or risk of violation of the laws and regulations or public order and morals of Japan.
- There is no promotion of any particular ideology, political opinion, or religion.
- There is no risk of infringing the rights of others (copyright, etc.).
- The guideline regarding the design and the use of the Logo stipulated in Article 6 of the Guideline is observed and the Logo is not edited or modified without permission.
- The Logo is not used for the purposes of claiming exclusive rights (such as by registering it as your own trademark or design).
- There is no activity and/or use of the Logo that are deemed inappropriate by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan
How to get certification
- Organizations wishing to obtain approval for their projects and to use the Logo are requested to submit the documents listed below to the United Nations Division, Foreign Policy Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In principle, applicants are requested to submit the following documents by email no later than one month prior to the desired start date of logo mark usage.

E.g., project proposal, list of exhibited works (in case of a exhibition, etc.), descriptions of the work (in case of a film or theatrical performances, etc.), programs, application guidelines (in the case of open exhibitions, competitions, etc.), etc. - Documents providing an overview of the organizing body
- List of officers/directors
- Articles of incorporation, constitution, articles of association, act of endowment, or other documents equivalent thereto
- History, business performance, activity details and other information about the organization
- Documents demonstrating the relationship between the organizer and the applicant (written contracts, etc.), in cases where the two parties are different
(However, for government agencies, consular offices, local governments, and public interest corporations supervised by MOFA, some of the required documents may be omitted; please contact us before applying.)

- Upon receipt of the email, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will send the electronic data of the Logo to the applicant.
(Note) Please allow sufficient time when submitting your notification.
(Note) Commemorative Events may be listed in the websites of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, with Name of Project, Scheduled Implementation Date and Name of Host Organization provided at the written pledge. If the applicant does not wish to have its project listed, please notify it at the time of submission.
