On September 21, commencing at 07:35 p.m. EDT (on September 22, at 08:35 a.m. JST) for approximately 70 minutes, H.E. Mr. Kishida Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, during his visit to Wilmington, Delaware, attended the Japan-Australia-India-U.S. (Quad) Leaders’ Working Dinner hosted by the United States, with The Honorable Anthony Albanese, MP, Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Australia, H.E. Mr. Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, and The Honorable Joseph R. Biden, Jr., President of the United States of America. The overview of the meeting is as follows.

  1. The working dinner hosted by President Biden took place in a small and intimate setting, where the four leaders had a frank discussion on international affairs, including North Korea, the situation in Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East.
  2. On North Korea, discussions were held based on the “Wilmington Declaration” issued today. Also, the four leaders had various discussions on the situation in Ukraine. On the situation in the Middle East, the four leaders are deeply concerned about the critical humanitarian situation in Gaza, and shared the view that they work together on this issue as the Quad toward the release of hostages and a ceasefire.
